I guess that there are many different parameters that people could use to the quality of the XyUG conference. One of the more popular ones would be looking at the quality of the presentations. For me personally that would be a bit difficult, given that almost half of the time I’m the presenter.
So what turned this conference into an excellent one for me?
Well, I judge things by the amount of social networking that takes place and the conversations ‘after hours’. And by that standard, I found that this year’s conference was an excellent one. I believe it was Deb D. that mentioned to me that the layout of the hotel was so perfect for networking. And the more I think about it, the more I have to agree. A very spacious, yet very friendly lobby with lots of sitting space. Adjoining to it was a nice sitting area outside. And last but not least the complimentary wine hour that by mere coincidence started when the sessions finished!
So what do you folks think about this year’s conference?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI agree wholeheartedly with Bart. We had many comments about the sessions, the networking, the hotel settings and, of course, the food.
Next year looks to be a good one also. Stay tuned for details!
From my point of view this was also a memorable conference – firstly being elected president of the XyUser group is a massive honour and I hope I can live up to Larry’s leadership – I would personally like to thank him for being president for the last 8 years – what a good job he has done.
Secondly, as others have suggested, this was a great conference and I would like to thank Bob for organising the conference and all the hard work he has put in to make this a success.
Lastly, yesterday in our extended trip, we took a day excursion to the Grand Canyon – what an experience – included in the trip was a 30 minute helicopter ride through the canyon – 30 minutes seemed to disappear in just a few minutes but what an adventure.
I hope you all enjoy the new web site and participate in the blogs and comments – please send Bob your request for a login and he will send you an email as soon as possible.
Bart, you look like very uncomfortable.
Chris – Best of Luck. I am sure you will do just fine.
Thanks for finally getting the food right. Aside from generally being above average, they were not delivering food by the wagon load, and each meal had healthy options.
Larry, I have to ask about your thumbnail. Is that you in there? If I squint just right, it looks like Richard Nixon. And who’s that with you?
P.S. Yes, it was a great Conference. Lots of good ideas circulating in the fresh air. And even though it became a cliche to add “but dry” to the adjective “hot” when describing the weather, I loved every minute of that sun.
This picture is the “infamous picture” with Nixon and Elvis in the White House. Nixon made Elvis an “honorary” DEA agent
Finally time to get to the blog.
Yes, an excellent conference, dry heat and all.
